In order to bring about change, we start with an understanding of where we want to be, where we are, what the difference is, and what will bridge that difference.
If we lack understanding on any of these, then we ought to be spending our time in gathering information that will help us understand them.
And if we do understand all of them, we ought to be doubling down our efforts in bridging the difference.
If we're doing neither, then we are merely hoping that someday in the future, things will be how we want them to be.
Such hope is good when we can't walk away from the situation.
Otherwise, we'd do well to walk away.
