One of the things that I love about travel is to experience new cultures, new types of food, ways of living and things to do.
Every place is different in it's own way because it's the people that make a place and they're all different in their own ways.
The last one year, thanks to the pandemic, has been the longest I've gone without traveling for vacation in the past 10-15 years.
However, when something isn't an option any more, there's always the next best thing.
When it comes to experiencing new cultures, the next best thing for me has been to watch international shows and movies.
In the past few months, I've watched my first Korean show - Crash Landing on you, which is among the best shows I've watched and introduced me to some things Korean that I would otherwise have had no clue about. I've also watched a movie from Nairobi, Just in time, which is another sweet movie and brings out some aspects of life in Nairobi. And I'm watching my first Thai show - Miss Culinary, which has an average plot but a fantastic depiction of cooking Thai food, which inspired me to make authentic Pad thai at home.
Of course, we'll all get back to traveling again like we used to before the pandemic. But, until then, the next best thing may just be a matter of selecting the right show or movie on Netflix.
